Koshcoons Raw Food Information
INGREDIENTS
MEAT: WITHOUT BONE 80%
You can use anything from pork shoulder, pork loin, boneless thighs and beef steaks or roasts. Any cut of meat can be used to make raw! However we use pork loin as our main source of boneless meat. You can also use hearts or gizzards as a meat source along with your main meat (even though these are organs to us, they are in the meat category because they are muscles). Make sure the meat you buy does NOT have added sodium.
MEAT: WITH BONE 10%
Again you can use any cut of meat for this but we use chicken thighs because they contain the most amount of taurine which i is essential for cats. Make sure you have a grinder that can handle bone.
NOTE== if raising small kittens or if you have a growing Maine Coon, real bone is a must for their growth and development.
Bone content can affect stools: loose stool = add more bone, hard stool = use less bone. You can adjust based on your cats.

ORGANS: 10%
Liver MUST be a part of your organ source. You can use any animal source of liver but chicken is less gamey and if you use beef or pork your kitty may take some time to get adjusted. Remember too much liver can cause Vitamin A toxicity

OTHER ORGAN(optional): KIDNEY, PANCREAS, BRAIN ETC: They are all very rich and gamey. Newly fed cats on raw can vomit when first getting used to these items. Our cats insist that we use beef kidneys in our batches and usually will not eat it without them, but if you are just beginning raw it will take time to adjust to these.
RAW EGGS: Yolks contain the bulk of the nutrition with almost every essential vitamin/mineral a cat needs, you can also order egg yolk powder as a substitute

CANNED MACKEREL: provides needed OMEGA 3s and fatty acids

***THERE IS NO EXACT RECIPE TO GO BY, WE USE THE RAW CALCULATOR FOUND IN THE CAT CRAP GROUP THAT USES AN EXCEL SHEET TO CALCULATE YOUR RECIPE BASED ON WHAT MEAT YOU HAVE SO IT ALWAYS VAIRES BUT I HAVE INCLUDED MY RECIPE BELOW FOR REFERENCE***

We all know that cats can get picky and tired of the same food sometimes so I do use a topper every other week with my raw. My cats prefer Hartz Delectables and Fussie Cat -In Aspic- pouches (chicken, sardines, mackerel). You can also use canned tuna in water. Only one heaping spoon per individual serving of raw is needed so one small pouch can do several plates. Mix in well so your kitty doesn't just lick it off the top! My cats appreciate this treat.

SUPPLEMENTS

All supplements are optional. If using the raw fed calculator your batch will already be balanced and complete. Listed below are just some of the things that can be added safely if you would like extra nutrition for your cat when pregnant or sick etc. and what they are used for.
The supplements are measurements per 10.0 POUNDS of meat, increase the quantity if you make in larger batches! Also if this is your first time using these supplements you must reduce your quantity added significantly or you will cause digestive upset and maybe vomiting until your kitty gets used to these. We started small and started working our way up each month to the full amounts. Some you may want to stay with smaller quantities based on your kitties preferences. All of these are merely suggestions with some being essential. I wanted to make the most potent raw superfood I could for my kitties is why I choose these. I wanted to create my own recipe that incorporated most of these when I began making raw and over the years it has changed and we have added and taken away things. The supplements below most closely resemble what they deem important for raw additives.
